| Kurt Bigenho is an artist
and designer operating out of San Francisco/Oakland. He has shown
work primarily in California, at Southern Exposure, Four Walls, Somarts, the
Webbies, Dadafest, and the Oakland Museum. A recurring interest is with
giving audiences a unique and customized "experience", and using
that experiential situation as an engine to auto-generate work (i.e.
physical evidence, such as a photo or party favor). He's not afraid
to make "art" which is unquestionably "silly". He works under a
number of aliases, including The Dept. of Shape Research, Made By
Kurt, K., The Generalist, and was a co-founder of VAINGLORIOUS,
the SF-based uncertainty troupe, which was formally put to sleep
in 2002. He is currently developing new interactive pieces and continuing
to develop The Dept. of Shape Research. His design consultancy is
known as Kurt for Hire: Brand,
Information, Experience. Other relevant biographical details:
degree in architecture from UC Berkeley, studied yoga for a few
years, likes to cook, and is a recovering pack rat. He occasionally
makes public works-in-progress via Useless, his gallery/studio. |
